Myanmar has been struck by a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake, leaving behind a trail of destruction, fear, and uncertainty. From the east to the west, people ran for their lives as buildings shook violently and, in many cases, collapsed. Videos flooding social media show terrified citizens searching for safety while others, despite their fear, **help fellow survivors by using any available means of transportation to transport the wounded.

The epicenter of the earthquake was near Mandalay, but its effects were felt far beyond Myanmar’s borders—neighboring India, China, and Thailand also experienced tremors. Tragically, at least 150 people have reportedly died, and 700 others have been injured, though these numbers are expected to rise as rescue efforts continue. In Bangkok, nearly 820 miles away, a construction site collapsed in a terrifying scene reminiscent of the 9/11 attacks in New York, leaving workers trapped under debris as dust clouds filled the air.

The disaster has not only destroyed homes and businesses but has also shaken Myanmar’s spiritual and cultural heart. Buddhist monks, known for their peaceful existence, stood in shock, witnessing the collapse of temples and centuries-old structures. Survivors—many of whom were caught at home, work, or in public spaces—now face an uncertain future, relying on international aid and local relief efforts to help rebuild.

With rescue teams working around the clock and the death toll rising, the world watches as Myanmar fights through one of its most devastating natural disasters in recent history. The coming days will determine not only the extent of the destruction but also the resilience of the people in the face of tragedy.
